If your CRM lives in one tab, your project management lives in another, client texts are sitting on your personal phone, and payments are scattered across two or three platforms, you already know how much time disappears just keeping everything connected.

I lived that way for a while. Then I moved my business to Moxie, and more than two years later, it is still the tool that holds my entire client experience together.

Moxie review: all-in-one CRM for small service-based businesses

In this Moxie review, I am walking you through what it does, what it costs, where it shines, and where it still has room to grow.

For more than two years, I have relied on Moxie daily, participated in the V4 beta, and, for the last year, worked as a Moxie implementation partner guiding other business owners to set up. So this is not a “I clicked around the free trial” review. This is the lived-in version.

What Is Moxie?

Moxie is an all-in-one business management platform built for freelancers, solopreneurs, and small service-based businesses. It brings your client management, projects and tasks, proposals and contracts, invoicing and payments, scheduling, forms, client portal, and even a business phone line into one workspace.

The idea is simple. Instead of paying for (and constantly switching between) five different tools to run one business, you run it all from one place. And for a lot of service providers, that one change is the difference between feeling organized and feeling like you are always chasing something.

Why I Switched to Moxie

Before Moxie, I divided my client experience among far too many tools.

  • My CRM was 17hats
  • My project management lived in ClickUp
  • Recurring and subscription projects ran through WooCommerce
  • I processed buy now, pay later requests directly in Stripe.
  • Client texts and calls came through my Google number

Every client touchpoint meant checking a different tool. Moxie let me combine my CRM, project management, and client phone line into one platform.

And the honest truth? It only made sense because Moxie was significantly more affordable for a small business like mine. Consolidating actually cost me less, not more.

What I Love About Moxie

After more than two years of daily use, these are the features that earn Moxie such high marks in this Moxie review.

Moxie Client Overview

Everything Lives in One Place

This is the big one for me. I offer different levels of service, and managing all of them in one place used to be hard.

Now I handle recurring projects, one-off support requests, and larger one-time projects all inside Moxie. Nothing lives in a separate system just because it is billed differently.

What that means for you: if your business has more than one way of working with clients, you do not need a different tool for each one.

Project Management That Fits Service Work

I keep track of projects, tasks, and deliverables in Moxie. Projects connect directly to the client, so tasks, files, time, invoices, and conversations all live together. When a client asks where something stands, I am not digging through three apps to find the answer.

A Client Portal That Makes You Look Polished

The client portal is the other feature I use every single day. On the Pro plan and up, it is fully white labeled and runs on your own custom domain, so it looks like part of your business, not someone else’s software.

Clients can see their projects, submit requests, and view all of their billing details in one place. That one feature alone cut down on so many “can you resend that invoice?” emails.

A Business Phone Line Tied to Each Client

This is a feature people do not expect from a CRM. Moxie’s Communicator gives you a business phone line (available in the US, Canada, and the UK). I still have my Google number, but my active clients have a dedicated line they can text and call, and every conversation is saved in their client profile.

No more chasing down texts in a different place or scrolling through your personal phone trying to remember what a client said last Tuesday.

Flexible Billing for Every Type of Client

Recurring billing, one-time invoices, and payment plans all live in Moxie. Before, I had subscriptions in WooCommerce and buy now, pay later handled manually in Stripe.

I do not have to do any of that anymore. Clients pay through their portal, and I can see everything in one dashboard.

Proposals, Contracts, Forms, and Scheduling Built In

You can send proposals and contracts, collect information with custom forms, and let clients book meetings with built-in schedulers. Everything connects back to the client record, so your intake process flows straight into your project work instead of living in a separate form tool or spreadsheet.

Automations That Work When You Are Off the Clock

Workflow automations (Pro and up) let you build out the steps that happen over and over, like onboarding a new client or following up after a proposal is accepted. Set them up once, and your systems keep moving even when you are not.

Pricing That Makes Sense for Small Businesses

When you add up what Moxie replaces, the value is hard to argue with. A CRM, a project management tool, a scheduler, a form builder, and a business phone line would easily cost more on their own. Moxie bundles them at a price that actually works for a small business budget.

Support From Real People and a Strong Community

Moxie’s support is handled by real people, and the community around the platform is genuinely helpful. There is also a public feedback board where users can request features and vote on ideas.

Having been part of the V4 beta, I can tell you that feedback actually gets heard. The recent update addressed so many of the things I did not love about the platform before.

Where Moxie Has Room to Grow

No tool is perfect, and an honest Moxie review has to cover the downsides too. While I absolutely love Moxie and almost everything about it, here is what you should know before you sign up.

The Flexibility Comes With a Learning Curve

Moxie is flexible and robust, and that is both its biggest strength and its biggest challenge.

The most common struggle I see when helping people set it up is not knowing how to make all of those features work for their specific business. You can absolutely figure it out on your own, but plan to spend some time setting it up intentionally rather than turning everything on at once.

Support Ticket Types Could Be More Flexible

My one current frustration is in the ticketing system. I use support tickets in a couple of different ways, and right now, all ticket types are available in the client portal. My request is to have ticket types that are not visible to clients.

I have already submitted that request on the feedback board, and given how much the V4 update fixed, I am hopeful.

Built for Small Teams, Not Large Ones

The Teams plan supports up to five team members and includes one additional phone line. If you have a larger team or need multiple phone numbers for different departments or locations, Moxie may not be the right fit. For just about any small service-based business, though, it is an excellent fit.

The Best Features Start at Pro

The Starter plan covers the core tools, but the client portal, support ticketing, workflow automations, phone line, and integrations like Zapier and QuickBooks all require Pro or higher. For most service providers, Pro is where Moxie really becomes an all-in-one platform, so budget for that from the start.

Moxie Pricing

Moxie offers three plans, and you can pay monthly or save by paying annually. The standard free trial is 14 days, but when you sign up through my link, you get 30 days free instead. You can also cancel anytime without penalty.

Pricing as of October 2026. Check Moxie's site for the most current rates.

Moxie also offers location-based and need-based scholarships if cost is a barrier, which is not something you see from many software companies.

My recommendation: for most service-based businesses, start with Pro. That is where the client portal, automations, and phone line live, and those are the features that make Moxie feel like a true all-in-one system.

I use Pro for my own business and have set clients up on both Pro and Teams.

Who Moxie Is (and Is Not) For

Moxie Is a Great Fit If You…

  • Run a small service-based business, freelance practice, or solo agency
  • Offer different service levels, like retainers, one-off work, and larger projects
  • Are tired of paying for and switching between multiple tools
  • Want clients to have one polished place to see their projects and billing
  • Want to separate client communication from your personal phone

You May Want to Look Elsewhere If You…

  • Have a team larger than five people
  • Need multiple phone numbers for different departments or locations
  • Need an enterprise-level system with highly specialized features

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Moxie is built for freelancers, solopreneurs, and small service-based businesses. It is especially helpful if you want your CRM, projects, invoicing, and client communication in one place.

Moxie does not have a free plan. The standard free trial is 14 days, but you get a 30-day free trial when you sign up through my link.

Pro is built for solo business owners and includes the client portal, automations, ticketing, a phone line, and integrations. Teams includes everything in Pro, plus up to five team members and one additional phone line.

Moxie is not hard to use, but because it is so flexible, setting it up to fit your specific business takes some thought. Start with the features you need most, and add more as you go. If you want help, you can request a Moxie setup quote.

Moxie Review Final Verdict: Is Moxie Worth It?

For small service-based businesses, absolutely. Moxie replaced my CRM, my project management tool, my subscription billing setup, and the client texts living on my phone, and it did it for less than I was paying before.

More importantly, it lets me run every level of service I offer from one place, and it gives my clients one place to find everything they need.

It has a learning curve and isn’t built for large teams. But after more than two years of daily use, my Moxie review comes down to this: it is still the platform I recommend most to small business owners ready to stop juggling tools and run their business from one system.
